The course provides the basic concepts and application of sociology of education, and introduces students to the educational function. The focus of the course is in sociological aspects of the development of an individual, family and social structure. Current issues such as the relationship between the individuals, family, parenting, gender, ethnicity, educational opportunities and also the issue of unity are discussed. Historical development of the national education system and early childhood education in childcare centres/ nurseries (TASKA) and kindergartens/ preschools (TADIKA) are being emphasized to explain the association of educational institutions with social policy for children.
